Learn to Draw and Shade Animals

Learn the fundamentals of how to make pencil drawings of animals come alive. You will leave class with your own incredible art, and gain the confidence to tackle realistic animal drawings in the future.

Expand Your Creative Process

You will gain insight into the creative process of a prolific professional artist, gaining loads of tips and tricks you can incorporate into your own practice. Hang around after the hour-long lesson for a Q&A session.

Make Amazing Art with Just a Pencil

You will follow step-by-step instructions to create a fun rabbit character with realistic fur (Jax from the show Amazing Digital Circus), and learn how you can bring your own characters to life with realistic texture, armed with just a pencil.

You will also learn:

  • to draw a fun rabbit character with realistic lifelike textures (Jax from the popular Youtube show The Amazing Digital Circus)
  • how to apply a realistic fur texture to all of your animal drawings
  • block out basic shapes and proportions to set up your drawings for success and accurate proportions
  • what all those numbers and leads mean on the sides of the pencils and when and how to use each type

All you need:

  • a pencil
    • if you have a basic set of pencils with various leads, bring that because Amanda will teach about the differences. But it's not necessary.
  • paper
  • eraser (a thin one like on the end of your pencil is best)
  • a Q-tip (or blender or Kleenex) for shading

Amanda Kazemi is a visual artist who primarily works with graphite and charcoal to create beautiful, whimsical, dreamlike art. Her inspiration comes from animals, plants, and people, and she uses her art to explore opposing forces such as sadness and beauty, resistance and growth, and shifting perspectives. Through her drawings, she seeks balance and harmony by weaving together contrasting elements. Recently, Amanda has added 3D elements to her work to show her desire to be more confident and find balance in her life. She uses the interplay between 2D and 3D elements in her art.

You'll have the opportunity to learn from this talented artist and gain new insights into your own creative process!
